Approximately 1% of people aged between 10 and 20 suffer from anorexia each year and 4% aged 16 - 25 suffer from bulimia.

Anorexia nervosa affects approximately 60,000 to 200,000 people so if you are suffering from this condition, you are not alone.

Types of eating disorders - Bulimia Nervosa

Bulimia Nervosa Like anorexia, bulimia is a serious psychological eating disorder that can be life threatening if left untreated. Individuals with this condition live in constant fear of putting on weight and use unnatural ways to get rid of the food, such as intense exercise, taking laxatives or forced vomiting.

Binge-eating Disorder Binge-eating disorder is not as well known as the two others, but still affects millions of people all around the world. If you frequently eat large amounts of food and feel you are unable to control what you are doing, these are characteristics of the illness. Unlike Bulimia, sufferers of this illness do not vomit or use laxatives to relieve themselves, and you are therefore very likely to gain weight.
